Several interior walls were removed to increase space, improve flow between kitchen, sunroom, living, and dining areas, and to open the overall space to a dramatic increase in quality of natural light. The functionality and brightness of the entire space is much improved. The contemporary design contrasts well with the traditional finishes of the remainder of the home.
White, light contemporary finishes, including quartz tops and improved lighting, further brighten the opened space. Natural materials include gapped fir cladding applied to the custom island and built in seating, cork flooring meeting existing oak hardwood, and a custom dining table- its top made from old growth douglas fir reclaimed from the removed interior walls.
